September,2019

九月份匆匆地過去，回想九月二日的開學日，同學們過了一個半月的暑假後，熱切地回校迎接新的一年。當天，我一如以往在學校大門外迎接家長及同學，看見大家雀躍的笑容，我也向大家揮手及不停說：「早晨！」、「很掛念你們！」大家一同談論近況，尤如親人一樣，這樣2019至2020年度學年便正式開始了。這一個月裏，同學們好像比以往成熟了，無論集隊、上落樓梯，或是上課及進行活動，在秩序上也有明顯的進步了。他們對老師、同學更是以禮相待，學校真是我們的第二個家。

September passed by hastily. Recalling our memories on 2nd September, 2019, it was the first day of the new school year. Students had had one and a half month of Summer Vacation, so they were eager to go back to school. On that day, I stood outside the school to welcome the parents and students as usual, I saw all of them smile happily and I shook my hand and kept on saying, ‘Good morning!’, ‘I miss all of you so much!’. I really wanted to take this opportunity to talk to the parents and let them express themselves. We all look like a family and it was the beginning of the academic year 2019 – 2020. In this month, students seem a bit mature compared with the precious years whenever they are squad, going ups and downs in the staircase, having lessons in the classroom, doing activities, they have a great improvement on their discipline. Also, they show respect to teachers and other students. It is the second home for them.

在這新學年，大家有沒有發現校舍多添了不少的點綴、裝飾？我們積極美化校園環境及更新校園設施，並在校園多設計了不少的英文語句，為學生提供一個優質的學習環境。衷心多謝各主任們、老師們的用心，在遠處也可清晰地看到我們的「內在美」。

In this academic year, can you figure out there are some decorations in our school campus? It makes the school more beautiful to attract the attention to people and they are willing to come to our school to know more about what we are doing now for our school development. First of all, I have to thank all the senior teachers and teachers who are devoted to help decorate the school and make the school become more fancy even you stand outside far away to see our ‘inner beauty’.

在九月二十日舉行了風紀及班長就職典禮。雖然只是簡單的頒授儀式，同學們的宣誓加上校長的訓勉，突然發覺同學們成熟了不少，他們不只顧玩樂，現在還會學習服務別人，多了一份使命感。看着他們堅定的眼神，令台下同學既妒忌又羨慕。希望這種使命感可以薪火相傳下去，當我為他們掛上風紀帶或班長牌時，他們的自信心頓時顯現出來了，面上流露一絲自信的笑容，這樣也是一種真實及珍貴的學習。

An inauguration ceremony for the Prefect and Monitors/Monitress was held on 20th September, 2019. Although it was a simple nomination presentation, oath-taking, reminders from the Principal, students suddenly became mature. They are not just caring about playing but they are now learning how to assist the needy. They also have a sense of mission. I can see the resolute on their eyes, it makes other students down the stage to be envy and jealous. Wishing this sense of mission can be spread. Their confidence is shown with a lopsided smile when I hang up the badges or baldric. It is an authentic and precious learning.

九月二十一日是我們的開放日。今年的主題為「給特別的你」 ‘ESPecially for you’。希望參加者可以從英文(English) 、科學(STEM)、體育(PE)方面，了解我們學校發展的重點。當天上午十時正，我們先在禮堂舉行了學校簡介及話劇表演，最後便是頒獎禮，家長們、同學們看得十分投入。在操場上，就舉行了一個嘉年華會，有着不同的攤位，例如草地滾球、躲避盤、科技攤位、英文攤位等，不單學生，連家長及舊生也一起參與，玩得十分起勁。他們好像也變回小朋友，一起參與。而且這次開放日，也吸引了不少遊人進入校園參觀，場面十分熱鬧。這個熱鬧的開放日，真的令老師十分開心，因為他們的努力，沒有白費！我們會繼續努力，為學校創建更多新元素與大家分享，好讓更多人認識我們。

Our Open Day was held on 21st September, 2019. The topic is called ‘ESPecially for you’. The first 3 letters stand for English (E), STEM (S) and PE (P). They are emphasized as they are the key elements of our development. Ten o’clock on that day, we had School Introduction, drama performance and prize presentation. Parents and students were engaged. In the playground, it looked like a carnival as there were different booths such as dodgebee, lawns bowls, STEM and English booths. Not just for students, parents and alumni participated happily and they all were engaged. They all turned back to children and joined in together. Also, lots of people from outside came in to check what happened at our school, the venue became boisterous. Such bustling moment at our school makes our teachers touched as their time was not wasted! We will keep up our good work to create more new elements to share with others, then more people will know us what we are doing to build our reputation.

今年我們將旅行日提前在九月下旬舉行，因為我們希望在開學初，舉辦不同的活動增加老師與學生之間的相處時間，令大家更享受學校生活，所以有如此安排。當天可算天公做美，天朗氣清，秋高氣爽，最適合舉行旅行日。我們今年在兩個地點舉行秋季大旅行，分別為大埔海濱公園(小一至小三年級)及大埔大尾篤燒烤區(四至六年級)。本年度的一年級的同學可以邀請一位家長一同參與旅行，這樣學生能得到更貼身的照顧，減少意外發生。當天，同學在海濱長廊上玩得十分高興，有些人在野餐、有些人在拍照、有些人在玩樂，真是十分高興。至於已經進入學習的第二階段的四年級至六年級同學，我們希望藉着這次旅行，學習成熟處理自己的個人事務，所以我們為他們安排燒烤活動，好讓他們嘗試照顧自己，給自己預備一頓豐富的燒烤餐！當天所見，很多同學都嘗試自己去準備燒烤，可惜他們不懂生火起爐，需要老師協助。另外，他們亦不能分辨食物的生熟，所以老師需要提醒他們要肯定食物已全熟，才可進食。能夠將學習場景搬進大自然，同學們與老師們都十分享受。

We reschedule the School Picnic to the end of September this year. Teachers reflected that March and April are always raining and have typhoon, the weather is not stable and School Picnic needs to be cancelled. It was very pity. Besides, we want to reinforce the relationship between teachers and students in the beginning of the academic year and make them enjoy school life, therefore we had this arrangement. Fortunately, the weather was fine and it is so suitable for picnicking. This year, we have two destinations for our picnic. P.1 to P.3 went to Tai Po Waterfront Park. This year, one of the P.1 students was allowed to accompany us to go picnicking as they can take care of their kids and know more about the school. I saw some of them walk around, eat their snacks, take photos and play. They were so excited to do so. P.4 – P.6 are in Key Stage two and they are mature to learn how to take care themselves. They needed to know how to set up the fire and cook their food for well done. It was such a challenge for them. Even some of them just burned the food for a short period of time and ate it. But they were always reminded.

「好的開始，是成功的一半！」希望新學年如這一句格言一樣，今年學校發展得更順利，同學在知識及品德上都有所增長。

Moving the classrooms to the nature, both teachers and students enjoy a lot. I wish as the motto, ‘Well begun is half done!’
